How many of you have paid out for one of those "make easy money on the internet" courses? Or worse still, paid thousands to go to a long weekend seminar that promises "untold riches with little or no work"? Well I have, and sorry to say, on much more than one occasion, in the UK, USA and even Australia. I must have been brain-dead. What a sucker I was. I have to shamefacedly admit, that until three months ago, after spending many thousands, I actually hadn't worked it out that making money on the internet is really about finding all the suckers like me. These are the suckers who want to make money on the internet and are looking to get charged through the nose for the information. The information, often very copious, but always thin on content, actually boils down to finding that elusive "cash-on-demand" product (or similar) that we (the suckers) are supposed to sell to similar suckers. (Makes you wonder how many of us there are in the world!) "Oh, and if you can't find a product of your own, then sell ours!". Such genius, such marketing panache. Ponzi must be proud of his progeny. The oh so tantalising email. So, what do you do when that enticingly irresistable email pops into your inbox? What is the secret to saying no, when you get an insider invite only visible for the next 24 hours that is so tantalisingly crafted by the best hypnotic copywriters and at such an incredibly low price of $147.00 or $197.00 (but never $148.00 or $198.00) with bonuses worth over $2,246 or $5,437 or even $10,927 (just pick a number) and all downloadable with just a Visa number and a click?
The secret? Well, the one I found is to get passionate about a business of your own - be it online or offline. There's nothing like a monthly income from your own business to keep the mind occupied. How about all the money I shelled out? Well, I learnt a lot - not perhaps what the guru was expecting me to, but I wouldn't be where I am, if I hadn't fallen for the hypnotic copy. And yet, I have to admit I still read the emails. I still click to see the enticing copy. I still feel a flicker of excitement at the promised riches. But, now I jot down the ideas it gives me and think how I can incorporate them into my own business. I'm infinitely richer. I'm definitely happier. |
