I'm sure many of you have read a few stuff about the recently released chml srucnoc online seo contest.
If you haven't this is what it's all about
You are given this phrase : chml srucnoc , and you have to optimize it so it ranks as high as possible at the end of the contest period.
Well, this is when a big controversy come. Some self-entitled "experienced SEOs" claim that the only thing that the contest does is spam the search engines. Some of them even go further and make their own pages trying to convince people of how smart they are, and eventually, some people believe it.
Is it really so ?
If you ask me, is surely isn't. If search engines return 0 results for the phrase, in what way do you spam it if you make a web page that contains something that's not already there ? Sure, it's a silly phrase, and it will create silly web pages, with very little content. But I ask you this. Do these "experienced seos" have the same reaction when it comes to rock solid facts like link farming or keyword stuffing a page, done all over the world to actually spam the search engines ?
Another thing they like to promote is that the prizes offered at the end of the chml srucnoc contest are very small in size compared to what a real seo will get in performing a real website optimization.
Well, then why don't they keep doing the real work and let other people that are interested in the contest be a part of it.
Because, the way I see it, chml srucnoc contest is first of all a learning process. If you were a good seo two years ago, doesn't mean that you will a just as good job now. Seo is always on changing grounds, and you always need to find ways to keep your website on solid ground. If you can find those ways in an online contest, without the risk of penalizing your own real website, and if you do good, even win a dollar or two, who will be the winner ? You, or the people that only complain about the contest ?
Just think about it. |
